The Colorado State Grange recognized three local members for their military service Sept. 29 at the Colorado State Grange Convention. The Quilt of Valor Foundation presented quilts to Tom Campion of Hesperus, Clarence Hunter of Aztec, New Mexico, and Dean Hiner of Ignacio.
The Quilts of Valor Foundation makes handmade quilts to give comfort and honor men and women for military service.
Hunter and Hiner are members of the Florida Grange No.306, and Campion is a member of the Marvel Grange No. 479.
Hunter served in the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant during the Korean War era in 1950-1954. Hiner served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a corporal, E4, from 1974-1978, and Campion served in the U.S. Army as a specialist, Rank 5, from 1967 to 1969.
