Rams show horns to FLC

Skyhawks off the mark in final exhibition

The Fort Lewis College men’s basketball team shot just 17 percent in the first 14 minutes, and that led to a hole too big to shoot out of.

The FLC Skyhawks played their final exhibition game Monday night at Colorado State University inside Moby Arena. FLC fell behind 37-19 by halftime and went on to lose 85-54.

FLC improved its shooting percentage from the field to 37.5 percent by the end of the game, but 17 turnovers also cost the Skyhawks, who were looking to solidify rotations and defensive scheme before Friday’s regular season opener against St. Mary’s in Ignacio.

Ignacio’s own Alex Herrera led the Skyhawks with 12 points on 3-of-5 shooting from the field and 6-of-11 free-throw shooting. He added eight rebounds and six blocks but turned the ball over seven times.

Junior transfer guard Kofi Josephs had 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting from 3-point land for FLC. He added four assists and three steals. Redshirt freshman guard Rasmus Bach had 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting. He added three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

FLC was doubled up in rebounds 54-27.

Glan Clavell led CSU with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Stanton Kidd had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and J.J. Avilla added 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
