It is La Plata Electric Association election season again, and as a resident of District 3 (the city of Durango), I am excited for the opportunity to re-elect Britt Bassett to the LPEA board of directors.
The LPEA board is important – not just because it guides the actions of our local electric co-operative, but because it shapes the future of our co-op and our energy choices.
Britt has spent his time on the board advocating for local renewable energy, responsible rate structures and a better relationship with Tri-State.
He is an important advocate for the residents of the city and our co-op. As a founding partner of CalCom Solar, a company that provides solar to California ag clients, Britt knows the benefits of bringing more affordable, local distributed energy to our region.
In addition to CalCom’s main offices in California, Britt opened an office in Durango that employs eight people, providing good technical jobs and added economic activity right here in town.
Britt also has years of scientific research experience at Los Alamos and other national laboratories, giving him technical knowledge that adds value to the LPEA board in the new energy economy.
Britt is the ideal board member, combining personal passion and professional experience to advocate for the people of Durango on our local electric co-op board.
When your ballot arrives in late April, make sure you re-elect Britt Bassett to serve District 3!
