The Region 9 Economic Development District of Southwest Colorado (Region 9) has updated retail data for each of the five Southwest Colorado counties.
These reports measure how each community’s retail sales compare to other communities of similar size across the state. Communities that are doing well tend to be regional shopping or tourist centers.
Bayfield, Pagosa Springs and Durango in particular are showing significant retail sales and compare positively to other communities their size, according to Laura Lewis Marchino, executive director of Region 9. Cortez and Ignacio are also trending well.
