Region 9 to receive USDA loan and grant funds

The Region 9 Economic Development District of SouthWest Colorado, Inc. has been approved for a Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Program loan and grant through USDA Rural Development.

This funding will help meet Region 9’s growing loan program demand, provide lending capital for start-up businesses, businesses needing smaller amounts or those that have a funding gap with their local bank. The grant portion will allow Region 9 to offer technical assistance services to the businesses they serve.

The grant funding totals $75,000 and the loan funds total $300,000 and will serve Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma and San Juan counties.

Region 9 is a nonprofit corporation led by a 26-member board of directors that in addition to loan funds, administers the Enterprise Zone Tax credit program, provides socio-economic data, and provides a variety of technical assistance to support economic development goals and priorities.
