The La Plata County Economic Development Alliance will host its annual Economic Summit on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at Sky Ute Casino. Registration is still available for $50 per person at yeslpc.com, and there's an application to register, along with polling to see which sessions people want to attend.

One of this year's speakers is Elie Smilovitz, the consul for political and economic affairs with the Mexican consulate in Denver.

Other topics include the future of the rural workforce, strategic partnerships, proactive customer service, and managing generations in today's digital workplace.

After the summit, there will be a meeting with Smilovitz on doing business in Mexico, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the LEAD office at 1211 Main Ave. Suite 1, in Durango.

RSVPS for that meeting are requested by emailing schwantesla@gmail.com.
