Unitarian Universalists to meet Sunday

Dawenwalker will give a presentation called “What the Earth is Asking of Us” at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Durango, 419 San Juan Drive.

This service will be taken in part from the “Healing the Earth, Healing Ourselves Conference.”

It is presented by two Unitarian Universalist congregations last spring in Florida.

Episcopal church’s bishop to speak

The Rev. Royal U. Grote, Jr., presiding bishop of the Reformed Episcopal Church, will preside at All Saints Anglican Church in Durango at 10 a.m. Sunday in the Windom Room of Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

At 11:45 a.m., after the service, Grote will provide an update about the Reformed Episcopal Church and the Anglican Church of North America. The Reformed Episcopal Church, established in 1873, is a founding member of the Anglican Church of North America.

Jehovah’s Witnesses to meet in Farmington

Members of the local English Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses will join congregations across the region at Circuit Assembly Day, beginning at 9:40 a.m. Sunday at the Farmington Civic Center, 200 W. Arrington, in Farmington.

The theme of the assembly from 1 Peter 3:11, “Seek Peace and Pursue It,” will be highlighted through Bible-based talks, discussions and experiences.

The visiting speaker will be a representative of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Patterson, New York.

The public is invited. Admission and parking are free.

No collections will be taken.

Sister Helen Prejean speaks at St. Columba

St. Columba Parish will host a speaking event with Sister Helen Prejean, author of Dead Man Walking, a book about the death penalty, at 6:30 p.m. Monday at 1800 East Second Ave.

This event will be in conjunction with the Fort Lewis College Common Reading Experience.

Ecumenical panel to discuss death penalty

An ecumenical panel discussion of Dead Man Walking, a book about the death penalty, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Durango, 419 San Juan Drive.
