Registration open for meditation class
Registration is open for a five-week beginning meditation class with Maureen Fallon-Cyr, a community Dharma leader at the Durango Dharma Center and mindfulness-based psychotherapist practicing in Durango.
The class, presented by the center, will begin Sept. 3, and will introduce participants to the practice of mindfulness. Using the practices of insight meditation, participants will learn to calm the mind and body while bringing mindful attention to present experience. Meditation and mindfulness offer tools for dealing with stress, pain and other difficulties. There will be time for questions and discussion. All levels are welcome.
This five-week class will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays from Sept. 3 to Oct. 1 at Durango Dharma Center, 208 East Animas Road (County Road 250). The cost is $15, with an opportunity to practice dana (generosity) for the teacher.

DivorceCare group to open to adults, children
A DivorceCare group for adults and children ages 5 to 12 will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 11 to Dec. 11 at the First United Methodist Church, 2917 Aspen Drive.
Child care will be provided to children younger than 5.

Former Dallas Cowboy to speak Aug. 17
The community is invited to hear Hall of Famer and former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin speak during the 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. Aug. 17 at the Piñon Hills Community Church, 5101 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington.
Irvin has become a leading motivational and spiritual speaker and openly shares his story in the hopes of saving youths.

Shabbot service to be held at Har Shalom
Congregation Har Shalom, 2537 County Road 203, will host a Shabbat Morning Service from 9:30 a.m. to noon today.
The services will include Torah reading and Torah study followed by kiddush.
