All Saints Anglican Church names new minister
All Saints Anglican Church, Reformed Episcopalian, will welcome a new minister May 5.
The Rev. Edward Fowler is moving to Durango with his wife, Marjorie, who will serve as the organist for All Saints. The couple most recently lived in Houston, where Fowler served as curate for St. Francis Anglican Church. He received his Master of Divinity from Cranmer Theological House in Houston.
Fowler replaces Marvin Moncrief, who served as vicar of All Saints for eight years. The Rev. Moncrief also served as chaplain at the La Plata County Jail as part of the Good News Jail and Prison Ministry. Moncrief is returning to his hometown, Kenora, Ontario, to be closer to his family. His wife, Kathy, will be in Durango for a while, continuing her work as a dental hygienist and arranging final details of their move.
All Saints Anglican Church is will host a farewell potluck for Moncrief on Sunday. Communion service is at 10 a.m. in the Windom Room of the Durango Community Recreation Center, with the potluck to follow. Call 247-0089 for more information.
Violinist to perform Hebraic concert Friday
Maurice Sklar, who plays Hebraic melodies on his violin, will perform a concert at 7 p.m. Friday at 1400 Colorado Highway 172.
The doors will open at 6 p.m., and appetizers will be served.
A worship with Sklar will take place at 10 a.m. May 4 at 1400 Colorado Highway 172. Donations will be accepted. The event is sponsored by Simchat Ha Mashiach Beit Emunah – Joy in the Messiah House of Faith.

Pastor candidate to visit Lutheran church
Christ the King Lutheran Church, 495 Florida Road, will welcome the leading candidate for its permanent pastor position at its services at 5 p.m. today and 10 a.m. Sunday.
The church’s semiannual meeting will immediately follow the Sunday morning service.
Members and nonmembers are welcome to join for worship and meet the candidate and his family after either service.

Sacred Heart to host spaghetti supper
Sacred Heart Catholic Church will host its 39th annual Spaghetti Supper from 5 to 8 p.m. today at its parish hall, 255 East Fifth Ave.
The cost is $10 for those 12 and older, $4 for children 6 to 12 and free for children younger than 6. The menu will include spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread, drinks and Italian cookies.
