Southern Baptist Church to study epistles
First Southern Baptist Church of Durango, 1715 West Second Ave., will begin a detailed study of the general epistles of the New Testament at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the church’s Fellowship Hall.
The 18-week program will be a chapter-by-chapter and verse-by-verse study of the letters written by James, Peter, John and Jude. These epistles were written to the emerging Christian church of 2,000 years ago, but their timeless lessons are as important to today’s Christian as they were to the earliest ones.
Tom Cummins will teach the class. Cummins has taught the Bible and religion for 17 years and holds master’s degrees in biblical studies and religious education from Liberty University, Lynchburg, Va. All are welcome but space is limited.
