First United Methodist to host free Bible school
The First United Methodist Church, 2917 Aspen Drive, will host free Vacation Bible School from June 17 to 21.
There will be two times to choose from: 9 to 11 a.m. or 6 to 8 p.m. Bible school is for kids age 4 to those finishing fifth grade.

Mountain View church to host vacation Bible school
“God’s Backyard Under the Stars” is the theme for this year’s Vacation Bible School to be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Friday at the Mountain View Community Church, directly north of Fort Lewis Mesa Elementary School.
Mountain View Community Church and Marvel United Methodist Church are sponsoring this Bible school. Participants need to bring a sack lunch. There is no charge for the program. Children ages 3 to high school are invited to participate.

Feast of Sacred Heart to take place June 8-9
Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 254 East Fifth Ave., will celebrate its annual Feast of Sacred Heart on June 8 and 9.
The event will start with a taco dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. The cost for the dinner is $6 for adults and $3 for children. The dance, with music by Sensacion De Colorado and Grupo Ritmo, will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. The cost is $10 per person and $25 per family.
A bilingual mass will take place at 10 a.m. June 9 at the church followed by games, music, food and a gift-basket auction from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A raffle drawing will take place at 2 p.m.
The church also announced students who are the recipients of the 2013 scholarships: Celeste Dunlop was awarded the $1,000 Classic For Classes from Sacred Heart Church; Kathy Smith was awarded the $1,250 Patrick Wanebo Memorial from Dottie and Jim Wanebo; and Luke deKay was awarded the $1,000 Francisco’s Ted Garcia Memorial from Claudine and Francis Garcia.
