Dharma center to offer meditation class
Registration is open for a six-week beginning meditation class with Katherine Barr, an experienced meditation practitioner, teacher and community Dharma leader at the Durango Dharma Center.
The six-week class, presented by the center, will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays beginning next week and running through July 10 at the Dharma Center, 208 East Animas Road (County Road 250).
The class is designed as a user-friendly, experiential introduction to meditation. It is geared toward people new to meditation and Buddhism. Though designed as an introductory class, people with any level of meditation experience are welcome.
The registration cost is $15. Scholarships are available. There will be an opportunity to practice dana (generosity) with the teacher at the end of class.

Presbyterian church to host Bible school
First Presbyterian Church will host Vacation Bible School from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday to Friday at the church, on the corner of East Third Avenue and 12th Street.
The program is for children who will be 4 years old by Sept. 1 to children entering fifth grade. Dinner will be served to the children at 5:30 p.m.
The Bible school is free. Registration forms are available at the church office.
