Har Shalom to discuss ‘Difficult Questions’

Join Congregation Har Shalom, 2537 County Road 203, and Eli Herb for his third class of the summer series called “Difficult Questions.”

Herb is a fifth-year rabbinical student and friend of Har Shalom. He is serving as the congregation’s spiritual leader for six weeks this summer. Herb will facilitate a discussion called “Soooo ... Are you a Jew? Or are you just Jew-ish?” at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Questions about Jewish identity in the 21st century will be discussed. The perpetual questions of Jewish identity in relation to Israel, the United States, Rachel Dozelal and contemporary race relations will also be discussed. A light dinner will be provided. There is a suggested donation per class of $18.

St. Ignatius to celebrate San Ignacio Fiesta

St. Ignatius Church, 15449 Colorado Highway 172 in Ignacio, will celebrate the feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola and the San Ignacio Fiesta at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

The church will have a chicken enchilada dinner, music by Spanish Connection and bingo. The annual raffle will be at 2 p.m. Everyone’s invited.

Sacred Heart offers Vacation Bible School

Sacred Heart Church will hold its annual Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 3-7 at Sacred Heart Parish Hall, 254 East Fifth Ave., for children entering preschool through fifth-grade.

Children will learn from Bible stories, play games, make crafts and have fun at SonSpark Labs. The Bible school is free. Children should bring a sack lunch and drink.

Unitarian Universalists to uncover inner muse

Rebecca Wildbear will discuss “Wisdom of the Inner Muse” at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Durango, 419 San Juan Drive.

The group will discuss the practices involved in cultivating artistry and hearing the wisdom of the inner muse. A soul guide, somatic psychotherapist and wilderness guide for 17 years, Wildbear works with dreams, deep imagination and Hakomi in her private practice.

She leads programs with Animas Valley Institute and Nosara Yoga Institute, and she created Wild Yoga, a sacred aligning of soul and Earth.
