Methodist church to host Bible school
First United Methodist Church, 2917 Aspen Drive, will hold Vacation Bible School from June 17 to 21.
There are two times to choose from, (which have been corrected from a previous brief): 9 to 11 a.m. or noon to 2 p.m. The free Bible school is for children 4 years old through children finishing fifth-grade.

Mark Reddy appointed to Bahai Council
Bahais of La Plata County announces that La Plata County resident Mark Reddy has been appointed to serve on the Four Corners Regional Bahai Council.
The appointment was made by the National Spiritual Assembly of the United Sates, the governing body of the Bahai Faith of the United States.
Reddy was appointed to fill an open seat on the council and will serve at least until the next annual election Nov. 26. The Four Corners Regional Bahai Council covers Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico. Reddy was selected because he meets the criteria established for membership, including selfless devotion to the service of the faith, a well-trained mind, mature experience and recognized ability. Reddy has been a resident of La Plata County since 1977. He received his degree in psychology and sociology from Adams State College in Alamosa. He obtained a masters degree in the psychology of handwriting and forensic handwriting analysis.
Unitarian Universalists to begin summer series
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Durango, 419 San Juan Drive, will begin its sixth annual Summer Speakers Series at 10 a.m. Sunday.
This summer the Unitarians will deal with concepts in a series called On Thinking.
Katherine Burgess will introduce the series Sunday with a talk also called On Thinking. Judith Reynolds will discuss Art on June 16. Other subjects will include: Euphemisms on June 23, Morality on June 30, Grief on July 7, Humanism on July 21, Freedom on July 28, Grace on Aug. 4, Mystery on Aug. 11, Time on Aug. 18, Justice on Aug. 25 and Endings on Sept. 1.
The speakers are drawn from the membership of the fellowship. All are welcome and child care is provided.

Har Shalom to host annual campout at Chris Park
These activities will be held during the sixth annual Har Shalom Campout with Rabbi Eliot Baskin about the topic Relationships: Connecting to Nature, Community and God at Chris Park, 900 Chris Park Road:
Guided shabbat meditation and yoga will be held at 9:30 a.m. today.
Creative outdoors shabbat/shavuot morning worship with Torah reading, Parashat Korach: The rebellion of difficult people, will be held at 10 a.m. today.
A Diving Relationship Scavenger Hunt will be held at 1 p.m. today.
B nai Mitzvah Vision Quest for pre-B nai Mitzvah students and their parents will be held at 4 p.m. today. Advance registration is required.
A group dinner followed by Havdalah and an evening program with songs and smores will be held at 6 p.m. today.
After the evening program today, there will be an adult program about relationships.
Judaism 360, an outdoors Chai Mitzvah, will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
Checkout will take place at noon Sunday.
High Holiday Schmooze for the Ritual and Spiritual Life Committee will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Congregation Har Shalom Synagogue, 2537 County Road 203. Everyone is welcome.
