Sacred Heart Parish offers initiation program

Sacred Heart Parish will begin its Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults program from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 28. The program will continue every Wednesday through May.

The program is the process of sharing the Catholic faith with those interested in joining the church. It is also intended for Catholics seeking faith enrichment.

First Southern Baptist announces fall Bible study

First Southern Baptist Church will hold an 18-week fall Bible study program at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays in the Sanctuary, 1715 West Second Ave. The first meeting will be Sept. 7. All are welcome.

Tom Cummins, who holds a master’s degree in Christian education, will lead the class.

The group will study 1 Corinthians, in particular, and how it applies to the present day.

Bible study to be held in Durango, Cortez, Ignacio

Thursday Bible Study Fellowship International classes will begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 15 at First United Methodist Church, 2917 Aspen Drive.

Satellite groups will be held at 6 p.m. Thursdays at First United, 6:30 p.m. Thursdays at Ignacio Community Church and 10 a.m. Fridays at Grace Fellowship Church in Cortez.

The study is interdenominational. This year’s study is the Gospel of John. There will also be a children’s Bible study for ages 5 and younger during First United’s 9 a.m. class.

Each location will hold welcome sessions for new members, with a special session in Ignacio at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 8.

Christ the King to feature gospel music Sunday

The music at the 8 a.m. Sunday service at Christ the King Lutheran Church will be old-time gospel. All are welcome to attend at 495 Florida Road to praise the Lord through song.
