Recently, our state Rep. J. Paul Brown, stood on the floor of the state House and denied that climate change was real – a fact disputed by every major scientific body in the world. Then, he took a vote to block funding for air quality programs across the state, including monitoring of pollution like particulate matter and methane for the Southwest. With some of the worst air quality in the West, residents of the Southwest cannot afford any more ridiculous votes like this from Brown.
Unfortunately, our state Sen. Ellen Roberts jumped on the “I vote for my party, not my people” bus as well, and also voted to block funding for better air quality and reducing carbon emissions across the state.
Residents of the Southwest: This is why voting matters. When you get your ballots in the mail this year, remember that Rep. J. Paul Brown chose climate-denialism before the health of your children and the environment, and vote him out of office. Roberts isn’t up for a few more years, but let her know that you expect her to vote for us – not in support of her future political aspirations – first.
