As I write this on July 26, our Sen. Gardner is in Senate chambers voting in favor of bill after bill that would destroy the Affordable Care Act without replacing it with anything comparable or better.
Some of these bills would pretty much wipe out Medicaid, on which 20 percent of Coloradans rely. The Congressional Budget Office has calculated that the bills favored by Gardner would leave between 20 million and 32 million Americans without essential health services. In many cases, this could kill them.
Does this kind of disregard for the lives of the ill and elderly represent Colorado? I don’t think so.
Yet during all the national debate about health care, Gardner has been pretty much absent from Colorado, and has made no effort to communicate with Coloradans (whom he is supposed to represent) to find our what we think about health care.
I guess he doesn’t care what we Coloradans think, and I hope we all remember that when he is up for re-election.
