Durango means lots of things to people: access to the wilderness, outdoor sports, small-town friendliness and charm. Let’s not forget one of the most important features of Durango, a regard for authentic history, the architecture, the boulevard, the parades and, most impressive, the narrow gauge train. There are residents who actually restore original cars and engines, a gargantuan task. The owners of the train agree the 416 Fire was devastating. Everything will be done to avoid igniting fires. As we recover, let’s not forget the value of this national treasure.
