Remind representatives to support CFPB

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which is celebrating its fifth birthday, protects service members, students, senior citizens and other consumers. Yet members of Congress in Colorado have chosen to side with financial companies like payday lenders by supporting legislation that attacks the CFPB.

The CFPB has already returned over $11 billion to over 27 million consumers across the country by suing companies for breaking the law.

Additionally, their website hosts a complaint database that has processed nearly one million complaints, and it provides educational resources and tools that consumers can use to make important financial decisions.

Disappointingly, Rep. Tipton has co-sponsored multiple pieces of harmful legislation, including a bill that would completely eliminate the CFPB. Where would the over 10,000 Coloradoans who have submitted complaints to the CFPB turn then?

If more Colorado residents contact our members of Congress in support of the CFPB, we can make sure financial companies are kept in check and the voices of consumers don’t get drowned out.
