Like Baron von Frankenstein, the Republican Party has been involved in nefarious experiments for decades. It adopted the Laffer Curve (supply-side economics) as its leading paradigm, slashing taxes for the wealthy at the expense of the middle class. This was paired with the necessary consequence of devastating cuts to safety-net programs.
However, it was not totally successful in its implementation until, like the good baron, it created a monster, this time in the Oval Office, to do its bidding. But now, just as in the Mary Shelley novel, the monster is out of control.
The Republican House and Senate members, whose primary purpose is perpetual employment rather than service, are too timid to reign in the monster’s childish, impetuous, and cruel behavior. Trump voters who have not reconsidered their support after a year and a half of this ignominious and corrupt administration will be of no help to remedy the situation. They are intellectually and morally lost.
Democrats, independents, millennials and recovering Trumpians are the only hope for bringing the monster under some semblance of control in the 2018 election. Start the healing process by removing Trump-enabler Scott Tipton from office this fall.
