Doughnut lovers no longer have a downtown spot to rendezvous for a sweet treat.
Rendezvous Doughnuts closed May 20 with no plans to reopen, said owner Charlie Shew.
The 7-month-old doughnut shop, located at 139 E. Fifth St., was not selling enough doughnuts for the business to be viable long term, Shew said.
“At the end of the day, Rendezvous Doughnuts was an incredible experiment for community involvement, a great education and amazing craft doughnuts,” he said.
The shop participated in the Hawk Tank business plan competition at Fort Lewis College and was funded in part by Southwest Colorado Accelerator Program for Entrepreneurs.
Shew said he looks forward to pursuing a job in the engineering sector.
