I participated in the Mar. 11 virtual town hall with Rep. Jeff Hurd, along with 7,500 other folks. I want to thank the congressman for holding the event and encourage him to hold more events like it, including live events in our county.
I also wanted to follow up on the bill that he described as cosponsoring with our Colorado Senators to hire back laid off probationary workers from public lands agencies on the Western slope.
Since the call, a federal judge has ruled that these employees were laid off illegally and described the whole process as “a sham to try to avoid statutory requirements.”
During the town hall, Rep. Hurd described himself as a “rule of law Republican.” So I am asking him to respect the ruling and step up and get our public land employees back to work.
