I am writing regarding Rep. Hurd’s Jan. 12 “Hurd Huddle” that arrived in my inbox, five days after Renee Nicole Good was murdered by an ICE agent. While this Huddle edition was intended to be a recap of “accomplishments” in 2025, I find it incredibly sad and disrespectful that there is no mention in your newsletter of the terrible incident in Minnesota. No, Minnesota is not in your district, but this atrocity was a national issue that deserved some kind of attention from you.
When Charlie Kirk was murdered, you posted the following on Facebook: “I am deeply saddened by the shooting of Charlie Kirk. I am praying for him, his wife and children. Political violence is unacceptable and we must fully prosecute the perpetrator of this evil crime.” Charlie Kirk was not a constituent in your district, but this was an incident of national concern and you felt compelled to create a post.
And yet, when Renee Nicole Good was murdered by an ICE agent, you were silent. Masked ICE agents were sent by the president to a decidedly Democratic state to instill fear, chaos, terror and to murder with supposed immunity. This was clearly an act of political violence. Why did you not post anything about it on Facebook or anywhere else and demand that “we must fully prosecute the perpetrator of this evil crime”?
I guess in your eyes, an “evil crime” is only committed when the victim is a fellow white Republican.
