It was the last straw when I saw the other day a cyclist going down Lightner Creek Road (County Road 207) and a car going about 70 mph in a 35 mph zone swerved near the cyclist and could easily have killed him.
I feel I have to write in after time and time again seeing drivers going 60 mph, 70 mph and even faster down Lightner Creek Road.
It is a narrow, curvy, dangerous road with no shoulders. I feel sorry for the cyclists on the road. They are playing Russian Roulette.
The county needs to make a safe shoulder down this road to protect people. Many cyclist and people walk down the road. It is just a matter of time before someone is hurt.
I saw a couple, from I suppose the mobile home park, walking side by side down the road with their tiny babies in baby buggies! That was seriously dangerous with these speeders. Also, I see drivers riding the bumpers of vehicles going to the campground, or if drivers are going the speed limit, they will ride their bumpers.
I am asking the State Patrol and the Sheriff’s Office to please patrol the road. This is no quiet road either. There is the mobile home park with lots of vehicles coming and going, the campground with many RVs, homes, apartments, condos, etc., as well as more than our fair share of motorcycles. This road needs regular patrolling and fixing with an adequate shoulder.
