DENVER – Colorado authorities said no charges will be filed against a cable company and contractors for striking a gas line at a senior community shortly before a fatal explosion at the facility.
The Denver Post reported the decision Friday after reviewing investigation documents it obtained through an open records act request.
Carol Ross, an 82-year-old resident of Heather Gardens in Aurora, was killed in the Nov. 16, 2018, explosion.
The Post said contractors for Comcast and ICS Communications struck the line while boring underground to lay fiber optic lines.
An Aurora fire investigator wrote that officials and prosecutors concluded there wasn’t enough evidence to convict anyone involved in the incident.
The Post says ICS and Comcast representatives couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
