Residents back home after crews stop fire near Fort Carson

COLORADO SPRINGS – Residents of about 20 homes evacuated by a small wildfire south of Colorado Springs are back home.

The fire burned about 3 acres Sunday near Fort Carson before firefighters brought it under control.

The cause of the fire isn’t known.

Meanwhile, a wildfire that started Thursday night on Colorado’s southeastern plains is 80 percent contained at 1,600 acres. Firefighters say the fire near Las Animas continues to burn within the perimeter.
