Rest in peace, Coco, Bubbles and Apricot

Before anyone goes crying about dogs being put down for killing livestock, take a look at these. These are my daughter’s and son’s 4-H chickens that were killed today by two at-large dogs in the Sunnyside area. They were described as light in color and possibly a German shepherd or St. Bernard-style dogs that were possibly still juvenile. I had to tell Lily and Leland that Coco, Bubbles and Apricot are dead because of a irresponsible dog owner. These kids got up every morning, fed these chickens, collected eggs and put them away every night. They were their pride and joy. We, so far, can find only six of our 18 chickens. When does my pet count, Durango? My kids love these chickens as much as you love your dog – and my kids take better care of them than the person who left their dogs out to kill our pets. Please report these dogs and their owner to La Plata County Animal Control if you see them.
