After attending last night’s forum for our local candidates, it became obvious that we are getting double talk from two Democrat candidates. Katie Stewart says she is a candidate for all, but she is pushing her abortion at will agenda. What about the 50% who don’t want that? Clark Craig made it clear; he would not support one size fits all.
Vivian Smotherman stated she is suing the Cortez school district for ignoring the law that allows schools to hide a child’s gender identity, pronouns and counseling from the child’s parents. Schools deciding what’s best for your children?
Commissioner candidates are in stark contrast in solving the cost of housing. Matt Salka wants to provide county money (tax money) to support projects while Paul Black wants to remove regulations and their costs. Paul’s idea not only reduces construction costs, but also the county’s cost to enforce.
We need politicians who will address both sides – truly work for the people instead of their party. Maybe we can solve a few issues. Novel idea! The Republicans this year have middle of the road conservatives. We don’t need any more Boeberts or AOCs in office. Last night’s forum and the Club 20 forums really shine the light on what you will get. You can’t be for everyone if you’re pushing your personal or political agenda. Soon, it will be your choice, do you want more far right and far left agendas or do you want solutions and healing? Restore balance in this country with your vote.
