Rex H. Howard

Rex H. Howard, Sr., 90, died July 8, 2014, in Durango.

Mr. Howard was born April 10, 1924 in Gravette, Ark. to Jesse and Bertha Howard.  He served with distinction in the U.S. Navy in World War II aboard the USS Cleveland.  He raised his family of four sons in Southern California. He moved to Bayfield in 1994 with his wife, Pauline Howard, after retiring from the Pfizer Corporation.  He enjoyed many aspects of baseball and loved the outdoors, including hunting, fishing and camping. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Howard is survived by his wife of 69 years, Pauline Howard; his four sons and their wives, Rex Jr. and Tara Howard of Durango, Delwin and Joanie Howard of Tennessee, Raymond and Sheelagh Howard of Idaho, and Mitchell and Kathy Howard of Oregon. He also is survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

 A memorial service will be held at a later date.
