Riley Amos, Erin Huck win 49th Iron Horse Bicycle Classic road races

Durangoan Riley Amos wins the men’s race at the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic on Saturday.

A strong field of professional cyclists lined up early Saturday morning in Durango and departed the start line at 7:30 a.m. for a 47-mile race to Silverton.

After about 5,700 feet of climb with summits of Coal Bank and Molas passes on a warm day in Southwest Colorado, Riley Amos won the men’s race for his first win in the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic Coca-Cola Road Race. (In the men’s race, Fortunato Ferrara came in second and Howard Grotts took third. )

Moments later, Erin Huck claimed the women’s race championship for her victory in the 49th edition of the famed event. Sarah Sturm took second and Evelyn Dong took third.
