The Israeli and United States’ attack on Iran appears unlawful under international law and unconstitutional under U.S. law. More than that, it is something no person of conscience should support.
The citizens and leadership of every responsible nation on Earth should rise up against this assault on the common people of Iran. Based on what has unfolded so far, after only two more weeks, large parts of Tehran – a city of 10 million people – could look like Gaza. No person with any humanitarian sense should want that.
This war shows how easy it is to start a conflict and how quickly it morphs into something dangerous and expanding. It has already taken on a life of its own. It seems destined to become a long-term catastrophe with staggering loss of life. It must be stopped.
If the sensible people of the world rise up and demand it, I believe the people of Israel and the United States would join such a movement and the war could end. I believe the Iranian leadership would follow.
The window to act is now. It must be stopped.
