River Permit Party is Jan. 24 in Dolores

Event is fundraiser for Dolores River Boating Advocates
The River Permit Party in Dolores is a great way to meet boaters and get information on running regional rivers.

The seventh annual River Permit Party and auction is Jan. 24 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Dolores Community Center.

The event is a fundraiser for the Dolores River Boating Advocates. There will be a feature film and presentation about the historic first full run of the Dolores River in 1948.

Four people and a dog made the run from Dolores to Moab, Utah. The footage and photographs are from the Otis Marston Colorado River Collection at The Huntington Library, San Marino, California.

Also, there will be a silent auction with lots of outdoor gear. Local band Carute Roma will perform, and there will be local food, wine and craft beer. Child care will be provided on-site by a licensed child care provider.

The event is a chance to meet new boaters, plan river adventures and connect with the local river-running community.

Every year, a community slideshow of Dolores River photos is presented at the beginning of the event.

Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. For advance tickets, go to the DRBA webpage.
