Devin Foley of Durango and a few friends at Santa Rita Park take advantage of higher water levels Thursday from the recent rain. The U.S. Geological Survey website showed the Animas River was running just shy of 1,000 cubic feet per second early Thursday morning, up from around 300 cfs Tuesday. More rain is in the forecast. There’s a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms today and a 50 percent chance of heavy rain Saturday, the National Weather Service reported.
