Riverview Christian Fellowship meeting Sunday in Bayfield

A Christian group that formerly met in Durango, Riverview Christian Fellowship, will hold services at 10 a.m. Sunday in Bayfield. The group meets at 4995 County Road 509 in the building of Bayfield Christian Church, which has services at noon.

Mike Wnorowski is the pastor.

"It's kind of a relaunch of the church," Wnorowski said of Sunday's events. "It's a celebration."

The church's previous paster was Barry Mooney, who recently moved with his family to Washington.

Wnorowski said he talked with Mooney and his wife, Ellen about keeping the congregation going in Bayfield, and they gave him their blessing.

"Our church is biblical," Wnorowski said. "We believe that God is real, God is relevant, God is relational in our lives today. The Bible is the word of God, and we read and teach that."

Known to many in Bayfield as one of the assistant coaches for the high school football team, Wnorowski has pastored at other churches in Woodland Park and Falcon, near Colorado Springs.

A youth group will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays at the church, led by Meg Mooney and Trevon Funke.
