When a business alarm sounded Friday night near the scene of a recent armed robbery, authorities moved in quickly.
Cpl. Nick Stasi with the Durango Police Department said officers responded to a security alarm at the Huck Finn Exxon at Ptarmigan Center at the intersection of County Roads 250 (East Animas Road) and 240 (Florida Road) but found nothing.
“It happens all the time,” Stasi said. “Something falls off a shelf, or something like that.”
In February, just a few doors down from Friday night’s alarm, an armed robbery took place at the Rocky Mountain High medical marijuana dispensary, and a perpetrator and an associate are being prosecuted for that incident. When the call came in for the approximate location, officers reacted promptly.
“Nope, just a business alarm,” Stasi said. “No robbery.”
