Robert Baer to visit Durango, talk with public

Baer

Former CIA agent Robert Baer will visit Durango to talk to the public about his possible candidacy for U.S. representative at 7 p.m. Monday, June 26, at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

Baer is considering a challenge to U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton in 2018. Community members are encouraged to attend the public meeting and share their concerns and ideas.

Baer was born in Aspen; graduated from Georgetown University; served as a CIA agent from 1976 to 1997, primarily in the Middle East; and is currently an intelligence and security analyst for CNN. His role in the CIA inspired the production of the 2005 film “Syriana,” starring George Clooney.
