It is my distinct pleasure to recognize Bill Roberts for his 26 years of service as the Editorial Page editor of The Durango Herald.
Over the past four decades, Bill has witnessed, documented and analyzed the transformation of Durango and Southwest Colorado. From local public works projects to state oil and gas policy to federal defense spending, his writings offered challenging yet reasonable opinions that broadened and deepened community conversations.
Bill’s astute commentary added texture and dimension to civic discourse in Colorado and beyond. His intelligence, wit and steadfast commitment to journalistic excellence have established Bill as one of the defining voices in Southwest Colorado.
