Ignacio cousins win regional crowns
The regional Rockies Challenge last weekend in Grand Junction was a family affair for grandparents Balty and Neoma Quintana of Ignacio.
Phillip Quintana, son of Eppie and Trish Quintana, backed up his local title in the 6-7-year-old bat, thrown and run competition in Durango with a regional championship, too.
Makayla Howell, daughter of Lionel Flores and Magdelena Quintana, won the 12-year-old Rockies Challenge in Grand Junction.
The cousins both advanced to the state competition Aug. 10 in Denver.
