Emergency personnel responded to a rollover truck accident near the intersection of East Third Avenue and 15th Street at 9:40 p.m. Friday.
According to Detective Burke Baldwin of the Durango Police Department, a female driver in a Toyota Tundra was headed into town on Florida Road (County Road 240) when she accidentally turned left into the northbound lanes of East Third instead of the southbound lanes. When the 33-year-old Durango woman realized her mistake, she tried to correct it by going across the median, dropping about 6 feet to the southbound lanes and rolling over.
Sgt. Mike Slack said the driver was arrested for driving under the influence, careless driving and driving the wrong way on a one-way street. Both the driver and her passenger received minor injuries, but neither was transported to Mercy Regional Medical Center.
Southbound East Third Avenue was closed for a time as the vehicle was removed, but all other traffic flowed normally.
