Rotary Club of Durango Daybreak to hold food drive for Manna

Rotary Club of Durango Daybreak will hold the first Chip Huntoon Memorial Food Drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.

The food drive will honor the memory of Chip Huntoon, a former club member who died six years ago. Huntoon was an active member of the club who supported projects focused on people in the community, especially Manna soup kitchen.

Daybreak Rotarians will be at the fairgrounds directing cars to drop-off points, and Rotarians wearing masks will greet donors at their cars to collect donation items.

Manna has requested these items:

Food: fruit cups or canned fruit, canned soup, canned vegetables, ramen, mac and cheese, granola bars/snack bars, individual oatmeal packets and large oatmeal, canned spaghetti and meatballs, canned tuna/turkey/chicken, individual breakfast cereal and box cereal, canned chili, nuts, canned vegetables, pasta, peanut butter, jelly, mayonnaise, bread, lunch meat and vinegar.Personal Items: body wipes, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes.
