The Rotary Club of Durango will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.
Animas Museum board member Charles DiFerdinando will speak “in character” as the early Durango businessman Thomas Graden, who moved to Durango in 1881. He, with Gen. William Palmer, founded a flour mill, lumber business and the Graden Mercantile Co.
DiFerdinando is a fifth-generation Durangoan and has been involved with the La Plata County Historical Society almost since it was started. He conducted building research for the Main Avenue Historic District and wrote the National Register Nomination for the East Third Avenue Boulevard Historic District. He also helped rebuild the oldest building in Durango, Joy Cabin, at the Animas Museum.
The meeting is free and open to all.
