Journalist and author Curt Brown will speak about the 1918 pandemic and devastating forest fire in Minnesota, relating this to the more recent experiences in Durango, at a virtual meeting of the Rotary Club of Durango at 6 p.m. Tuesday via Zoom.
The deadly 1918 flu virus was far worse than today’s pandemic. The train-sparked forest fire turned out to be Minnesota’s worst natural disaster. These are subjects of his latest book, “Minnesota 1918, When Flu, Fire and War Ravaged the State.”
Now a resident of Bayfield, Brown spent more than 30 years as a reporter at various Minnesota newspapers. He was named Minnesota Journalist of the Year in 2013.
Virtual visitors using Zoom are welcome.
