Rotary meeting to feature presentation on spruce beetle epidemic

Kent Grant, Durango district forester for the Colorado State Forest Service, will speak about the spruce beetle epidemic in Southwest Colorado at the next Rotary Club meeting, scheduled 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.

Presentation topics will include spruce beetle biology, prevention and control measures, attack symptoms, and current environmental conditions.

The Colorado State Forest Service is a service and outreach agency of the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University. The Durango district serves La Plata and surrounding counties to improve forest conditions and amenities for landowners, communities and cooperating agencies.

The event is free and open to visitors.
