San Juan Basin adds to team

San Juan Basin Health Department announces the addition of these new hires:

The Single Entry Point Program announces the hiring of Victoria Garcia as its full-time administrative assistant. Garcia has seven years of experience in different positions including a collections management assistant for a library, art consultant, and front desk and administrative assistant positions.

Kati Rogers also joined as an administrative clinic assistant. Rogers is assisting at the front desk and with the Immunizations and Sexual Health Clinics and comes to the department with experience in local office management.

Elizabeth Peltz, a registered nurse, has joined the department as a limited-purpose nurse working with the immunization clinic and also as a back-up communicable disease investigator. Peltz has a strong interest in public health and has spent time on medical relief trips volunteering in Haiti and also works closely with the San Juan County Health Department in Silverton.

Valerie Dumond, RN, BSN, has joined as a limited-purpose nurse working with the immunization clinic and as a backup communicable disease investigator. Dumond previously worked for the U.S. Forest Service and was a firefighter and emergency medical technician for Raytheon Polar Services based in Antarctica.

Christian Belman has been hired as a promotora in its Promotora Program. Belman is a recent graduate of Fort Lewis College, and he will aid in the expansion of the Promotora Program in La Plata County, serving clients in Bayfield, Ignacio, and Durango. Belman is a fluent Spanish speaker.

Maria Hernandez has been hired to serve clients as a promotora in the Promotora Program. Hernandez will aid in the expansion of the Promotora Program in Archuleta County. She has been a resident of Archuleta County for the past five years and is fluent in Spanish.
