The San Juan College Planetarium will hold AstroFriday at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Friday at the planetarium, 4601 College Drive.
The presentation will be “Navajo Skies,” a full-dome planetarium presentation of Navajo astronomy by Nancy Maryboy and David Begay. Eight major Navajo constellations will be revealed, as well as several others never before seen in the show’s previous version.
The presentation will last about 35 minutes and will be followed by a live, guided sky tour showing the night sky of early February. Winter sky maps and Navajo constellation name guides will be given out while supplies last.
This event is free and open to the public. There is a maximum seating capacity of 60 in the planetarium. Weather permitting, a one-hour, free public stargaze with telescopes will be held at 8:30 p.m. in the courtyard behind the planetarium, after the last show.
