San Juan College Planetarium to host AstroFriday

The San Juan College Planetarium’s AstroFriday presentation will be “Back to the Moon for Good” and will take place at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Friday at the planetarium, 4601 College Blvd., Farmington.

This 25-minute full-dome presentation features the Google X-Prize competition. Private developers are challenged with building and transporting a space probe to the Moon, getting it to travel over the surface after touchdown, and successfully transmit back high-definition photographic imagery and video to Earth.

The presentation will be followed by a live-guided tour of the sky, using the Planetarium’s Digitarium Zeta star projector. Winter sky maps will be given out while supplies last. There is no admission charge, and no reservations are taken or required, but seating is limited.

Weather permitting, a free, one-hour public stargaze with telescopes will be held at 8:30 p.m. in the courtyard behind the planetarium after the last show.
