This election season, San Juan County, New Mexico, voters will have an opportunity to vote on the Statewide General Obligation Bond C (referred to as GO Bond C).
Voting Yes will not increase property taxes.
Passage of the bond will help New Mexico colleges and universities repair and renovate facilities, along with improve safety and update technology, providing students with the modern, safe facilities to learn in and prepare for their futures.
Approval of the bond will mean an allocation of $3.5 million for San Juan College. Statewide Bond C will support projects at San Juan College that will provide a safer campus with easier Americans with Disabilities Act compliant access to campus entryways, while protecting and extending the life and usage of college property. This will include repaving aging parking lots, upgrading uneven gravel parking lots to asphalt, increasing safety through additional energy-efficient roadway lighting and enhancing campus entryways and signage to improve access and ensure ADA compliance.
For many New Mexico colleges and universities, GO Bond C, will serve as an essential source of funding to upgrade and renovate facilities and update technology. Having well-maintained facilities is critical to educate and train our workforce. Investing in higher education is vital to the state’s economy and growth.
Absentee voting begins Oct. 6. Early voting will be held Oct. 17-31, and Election Day is Nov. 3.
