San Juan College to follow education department guidelines

After Gov. Michelle Luján Grisham’s Public Health Order issued Nov. 13, San Juan College received additional guidance from the New Mexico Higher Education Department regarding the operations of colleges and universities.

For most students, instruction will continue as scheduled. Online and live online courses will continue online. Courses in the School of Health Sciences, Trades and Technology and Energy will continue to meet face-to-face or in hybrid formats through the end of the fall semester.

Other courses currently meeting face-to-face or in hybrid formats will transition to remote/online learning Nov. 30, after the Thanksgiving break.

The Child and Family Development Center and Quality Center for Business will remain open.

Operations of college facilities will depend on public health orders. These departments will have revised hours and limited capacity:

Health and Human Performance Center closed through Nov. 30. Cosmetology Salon closed through Nov. 30. Educational Services Building closed Nov. 18 to Nov. 30.San Juan College Bookstore closed through Nov. 30. Students may order books online at www.bookstore.sanjuancollege.edu.Testing Center open at 25% capacity by appointment only. Computer labs open during normal hours through Nov. 20, closed Nov. 21 to Nov. 30.Community Learning Center and Encore Office closed through Nov. 30. Advisers, enrollment and financial aid staff members are available to assist students.

San Juan College will close for the Thanksgiving holiday, Nov. 25 to Nov. 29. New students may apply online, and continuing students may register online.

The upcoming End-of-Semester Virtual Student Showcase is canceled, as all music classes will convert to an online format Nov. 30.
