San Juan College to hold virtual graduation ceremony

San Juan College will hold a virtual graduation ceremony for its students, as well as recognize the first graduating class of San Juan College High School at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday via livestream at

The SJCHS students earned their high school diploma and associate’s degree simultaneously. In addition, those who have earned degrees from New Mexico Highlands University – Farmington Center and the University of New Mexico – San Juan Center will be recognized.

T. Greg Merrion, president of Merrion Oil and Gas, will provide the guest keynote address. SJC President Toni Hopper Pendergrass will preside over the ceremony.

Graduation will recognize over 1,430 SJC graduates earning associate degrees and certificates, 62 SJCHS graduates, as well as more than 124 graduates earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees from New Mexico Highlands University – Farmington Center, and the University of New Mexico – San Juan Center.

Gayle Dean, executive director of the San Juan College Foundation, will award the Foundation’s Allison Award for Excellence to an outstanding faculty member.

The graduate selected by the Graduation Committee to represent the 2020 graduating class and speak at this year’s ceremony is Marie J. Nickoli. Nickoli will receive an Associate of Applied Science in Instrumentation Controls and Electrical Technologies.
