San Juan Mountains Association and interpretive guide MK Gunn will host a hike to Highland Mary Lakes near Silverton on Sunday.
A carpool will meet at 7 a.m. in Durango, or participants can meet at the trailhead.
Participants will learn how glaciers shaped the landscape while visiting some of the most picturesque lakes in the area. Hikers should come prepared for a strenuous, all-day outing.
The event is made possible in partnership with San Juan National Forest and the Bureau of Land Management’s Gunnison Field Office. There is a $10 suggested donation.
